Find the Tree of Wisdom, walk all the way around it, and reflect on how you can live BYU's motto.
Rooted in Knowledge, Branching into Wisdom
Just south of the Spencer W. Kimball Tower stands one of BYU's most quietly beautiful landmarks: the Tree of Wisdom. Created in 1975 for BYU's centennial anniversary by sculptor Frank J. Nackos, its 10 abstract panels transform as you walk around it, becoming roots on one side, branches on the other.
Nackos hoped viewers would enjoy the sculpture's ever-changing beauty, but beyond that, he wanted them to see its duality as a reflection of BYU's own motto: rooted in knowledge and wisdom before "branching out and growing to fruitfulness and service." Take a lap around it, taking a moment to consider what you're rooted in right now and how you might branch out and serve because of it.

- Walk all the way around the sculpture and watch how it transforms
- Take a moment to reflect on how you can "Enter to Learn, Go Forth to Serve" in your own life
- Submit your participation on Traditions Keeper to complete the challenge and consider sharing a photo with us!
