Explore Utah Valley: First Down Provo

Date: Friday, September 11, 6:00–9:00P.M., Old Courthouse County Grounds, Downtown Provo

Tradition Challenge: Head downtown for First Down Provo and discover community beyond campus.

Downtown Provo Meets Cougar Nation
First Down Provo is a great opportunity to start exploring the city beyond Cougar campus. Brought together by Explore Utah Valley, BYU Athletics, and the BYU Alumni Association, it's a free street celebration in the heart of Downtown Provo to kick off Big 12 football season. Expect live music, fire dancers, food trucks, and local shopping, plus free Swig for the first 2,000 fans.

It's also a chance to give back. The event will include the first-ever Cougs Care service project held in Provo, a food drive benefiting the local community, coinciding with the National Day of Service during Hunger Action Month. This is a chance to see Provo as more than a backdrop to campus and experience a community with local businesses, traditions, and neighbors.

How To Participate:
  • Head to the Old Courthouse County Grounds in Downtown Provo on Friday, September 11, 6:00–9:00P.M.
  • Enjoy live music, fire dancers, food, and shopping from local Provo vendors, free and open to the public
  • Bring a canned food item to donate to the Cougs Care food drive
  • Submit your participation on Traditions Keeper to complete the challenge and consider sharing a photo or video with us!
