A New BYU Tradition
BYU lit its first Christmas tree in 2025 for the BYU 150 sesquicentennial celebration, and it's already become a tradition. Christmas music from BYU performing groups, a live nativity, student-made luminaries, hot chocolate, and Light the World Giving Machines fill Brigham Square before the crowd counts down until the tree bursts into light.
It's BYU's official kickoff to the Christmas season, and a reminder of what the season is really about: a time to remember Jesus Christ, a chance to share your gifts with others, and a time to gather together in unity.

- Enjoy the music, luminaries, nativity, and hot chocolate leading up to the tree lighting
- Join the countdown and watch the tree light up
